Carrie Brownstein Takes Over Nora Ephron's 'Lost in Austen'
When Nora Ephron (You've Got Mail, Julie & Julia) passed away in 2012 it left quite a gap for those seeking romantic comedies that could be smart, sweet, and very funny. She also left behind a number of unfinished projects, and one that she was working on was Lost in Austen, an adaptation of the U.K. series. Now that project is moving forward once again with Portlandia's Carrie Brownstein taking over the screenplay.
Brownstein, who created and stars in IFC's hit Portlandia alongside Fred Armisen, will now pen the story of a "Amanda, who lives and works in present-day Brooklyn until she suddenly finds herself transported into the fictional world of Jane Austen’s Pride And Prejudice." We saw a similar story play out in last year's Austenland, and hopefully Brownstein can do more with the Austen-era hijinks than that film did.
Brownstein will be seen next in Todd Haynes' Carol, starring Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett. [Deadline]
