'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' Prequel 'Leatherface' in the Works

If there's a truism when it comes to certain horror franchises it's that none of them are ever truly dead, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has had more lives than its chainsaw-wielding villain. Rebooted a couple of times already with a "sequel" just last year in Texas Chainsaw 3D, the series is now getting a prequel, even though we already saw one in 2006's Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.

According to The Wrap, Seth M. Harwood has been hired to pen Leatherface, a franchise prequel that will be set in the 1970s. So how does that make it different than any of the others? That much is unclear and without a director on board chances are we won't know if there is some twist to make this reboot unique. Last year we learned producers had acquired the film rights to make seven more Texas Chainsaw movies and this them taking steps towards doing just that.

Production is set to begin in the winter for what will be the eighth Texas Chainsaw Massacre film in the chronologically convoluted franchise.
