Ansel Elgort Eyes Role in Edgar Wright's 'Baby Driver'

When the whole Ant-Man thing fell through for Edgar Wright he decided it was best to pick up a long-gestating project rather than take on a new one. Baby Driver is a film he's been developing for years and it just took a major step forward with Ansel Elgort entering talks to star.

A report at Variety says Elgort has beaten out John Boyega and Logan Lerman for the lead role, and why wouldn't he? Elgort took off like a shot after starring in the Carrie remake, and his 2014 was packed with hit films like Divergent and The Fault In Our Stars, plus an awful (but low-profile) dud in Men, Women & Children. Plot details had been slim but THR now says it follows "a getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom."

There's also word from The Tracking Board that Emma Stone and Michael Douglas are being sought to co-star alongside Elgort. She would play his love interest while Douglas, who nearly worked with Wright on Ant-Man, would play his mentor.

All of this is pretty early on but Elgort and Wright is a pretty exciting combination.
