First Look at Michael Shannon and Kevin Spacey as 'Elvis & Nixon'

In one of the oddest official meetings in U.S. Presidential history, Elvis Presley met with Richard Nixon in 1970 after becoming bored with Graceland. His goal was to be made a "Deputy at Large" (a position that doesn't exist at all) in the Bureau of Narcotics, and Nixon was so desperate to win the youth vote that he agreed. It sounds like a pretty good basis for a silly political comedy, and that's what writer/producer Cary Elwes and director Liza Johnson (Hateship Loveship) have done with Elvis & Nixon, and the first image of stars Michael Shannon and Kevin Spacey is here.

As you can probably guess, the charismatic Shannon is playing Elvis while House of Cards' Spacey gets to play the ultimate shady politician in Nixon. Here's the synopsis:

"Two men at the height of their powers, conscious they could not stay on top forever, both ripped with fear of the inevitable, sharing one famous private moment in the Oval office. ELVIS & NIXON recounts the morning of December 21st 1970, when the King of Rock’ n Roll (Michael Shannon) showed up on the White House lawn to request a meeting with the most powerful man in the world, President Richard Nixon (Kevin Spacey). He had a very urgent request: to be sworn in as an undercover Federal Agent at large. This intimate moment in the Oval office between two men at the height of their powers has never been told."

The film also stars Alex Pettyfer, Ashley Benson, Tracy Letts, Evan Peters, Johnny Knoxville, and Colin Hanks.
