It's Good to Be Bad in the New 'Minions' Trailer

Undoubtedly the minions were the best and funniest part of Despicable Me and its equally successful sequel. Let's just get that out of the way now. Sorry, Steve Carell, but it's true. But how does one go about making a spinoff focused solely on them? It's always dangerous to take characters that people love in small doses and put them center stage, but everything we've seen from Minions so far suggests Universal and Illumination have found the right formula.

A new trailer for Minions gives the deepest look at the film yet as we see them headed to Villain Con (great idea!) in hopes of meeting the supervillain, Scarlet Overkill, voiced by Sandra Bullock. Set in the 1960s, the film is basically an origin story showing the minions throughout history and how they've come to serve many different masters. What's clear from this, other than the continued hilarity that are the minions, is that they aren't inherently evil despite the people they serve. Can they have the same heroic effect on Scarlet that they had on Gru?

Also featuring the voices of Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton, Allison Janney, and Steve Coogan, Minions opens July 10th 2015.
