On paper, David Ayer's Suicide Squad has a cast that nearly blows Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice out of the water, which is no small feat. Over the weekend we learned that Scott Eastwood and boxer Raymond Olubowale had joined the star-studded film, and while Eastwood's role had been a mystery we now know it will have some serious connections to a certain Amazonian warrior. Plus, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agabe, best known as Mr. Eko on ABC's Lost, is taking on a role as a character with ties to Batman.

Meanwhile, the groundwork for 2017's Wonder Woman is being laid early and Suicide Squad are going to be a key part of it. Eastwood's role has been revealed by Latino Review to be that of Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman's key love interest for the majority of her existence. He was introduced back in 1941 as an intelligence officer for the US Army who encountered Wonder Woman after crash landing on Paradise Island. The most recent version of Trevor has him as the US government's liaison to Wonder Woman and the newly-formed Justice League. He tries to convince the Suicide Squad's handler, Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davis in the film), that the Amazons are peaceful and not a threat to society. He's also the leader of his own team of agents in ARGUS.
Also starring Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, and Jay Hernandez, Suicide Squad opens August 5th 2016. [TheWrap]
