Ben Foster Takes Villain Role in Ron Howard's 'Inferno'

Much of the cast of Ron Howard's Inferno was set in place last month, but there's still room for one more. This is the third collaboration between Howard and star Tom Hanks on a book by Dan Brown. The first was The Da Vinci Code followed by the less successful sequel, Angels & Demons. With Felicity Jones on board for the female lead, plus Irrfan Khan, Sidse Babett Knudsen, and Omar Sy in supporting roles, Ben Foster has now been added to play the film's villain.

According to THR, he'll play Bertrand Zobrist, a scientist/madman obsessed with Dante's Inferno and comes up with a plan to fix the world's overpopulation problem.  Of course that means symbologist Robert Langdon (Hanks) will have to stop him, but first he'll have to overcome a case of amnesia.

Foster's going to be awfully hard to miss over the next year or so. He's got Duncan Jones' Warcraft film; plus a role in Coast Guard drama The Finest Hours, and he'll play Lance Armstrong in Icon.
