Tom Ellis, who played a celebrity doctor on the recently cancelled USA Network series, Rush, has just landed the title role in Fox's Lucifer series. The show is based on the Mike Carey comic, itself a spinoff from Neil Gaiman's Sandman.
Len Wiseman (Sleepy Hollow, Underworld) will direct the pilot with Jerry Bruckheimer on board as a producer. Lucifer will vary from the comic as the fallen angel will resign his throne in Hell and settle for the shallow insanity of Los Angeles where he helps the LAPD track down criminals.
Add this to the growing list of comic book TV shows out there. Hopefully this one turns out better than NBC's Constantine.
