This rumor has been kicking around for a couple of months but appears to have picked up some steam and at least one new detail. Collider is reporting that Angelina Jolie is being sought by Marvel to direct their Captain Marvel film. At the same time they say she's also a contender for Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman movie now that Michelle MacLaren is out of the picture.
The most obvious thing is that she only has time to do one if she decides on either. Captain Marvel is due to arrive in 2018 while Wonder Woman is penciled in for 2017 for now, but that could change if they can't find a director soon. And this all depends whether Jolie is even interested. Her next film is the biopic Africa that shoots later this year, and she may want to stick with projects of that size rather than jump into the busy, oversized world of superhero movies.
All of this could depend on the screenplays, anyway, and neither film has one that's ready to go. We'll see what happens but obviously getting Jolie to be part of either universe would be huge.
