Channing Tatum to Star in Hot Sci-Fi Project 'The Forever War'
An adaptation of Joe Haldeman's sci-fi novel The Forever War may be hot right now, with Warner Bros. and Sony in a bidding war for the rights, but the project has basically sat on ice for a few years. Ridley Scott was attached to direct it for a few years but for whatever reason it never got to the top of his list. And while Scott is no longer involved, a star has been found with Channing Tatum coming aboard.
According to The Wrap, Tatum will star in the sci-fi film which features a script by Prometheus and Passengers scribe, Jon Spaihts. Tatum will play William Mandela, a soldier fighting in a war against the alien Taurans, only to realize the time warps he's experienced have stopped his aging. Meanwhile, Earth goes through centuries of incredible change all around him. So basically it's The Age of Adaline with 100% more space aliens.
A director still needs to be found so it may be awhile before we see this one really move forward.
*UPDATE* For those who, Warner Bros. has won the bidding war.
