How do you gather a superstar cast that includes James Franco, Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, Jeff Bridges, Mackenzie Foy, Paul Giamatti, Benicio Del Toro, Ricky Gervais, and Albert Brooks? One way is with an animated adaptation of the classic novella, The Little Prince, and that amazing voice cast can be heard in a gorgeous new trailer.
There have been numerous adaptations of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's 1943 novel about a brilliant young girl who discovers the story of a pilot who crash landed in the Sahara and befriended a young boy who claimed to be a prince from a far away asteroid. Mark Osborne, whose last feature was Kung Fu Panda in 2008, is at the helm of this one.
The animation here is absolutely breath-taking, especially the scenes that look like they were cut out of a children's book. Cannes will be running the film out-of-competition, meaning Pixar's Inside Out won't be the only animated film debuting at the festival. The Little Prince opens in France on July 29th. No US release date at this point.
