You know I usually hate posting about set photos, but this is worth making an exception. David Ayer's Suicide Squad has had a significant presence on social media, posting tons of cast photos even before filming had begun. But now production is underway, and that means random set images from eager fans and photographers for gossip rags. And here comes Just Jared, who have managed to snag images of Will Smith on set, decked out for his role as the lethal assassin, Deadshot.
The image shows Deadshot, likely in his civilian getup, and it immediately recalls Smith's regrettable role in Wild Wild West. Hopefully nothing from "Willennium" is on the soundtrack. Smith's alongside a young girl who appears to be Deadshot's daughter, a crucial fixture in his life in the comics. Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davis in the film) is basically using her as leverage against Deadshot, forcing him to be part of the team. So this is either a means of humanizing Deadshot a little bit, or a flashback to before he joined. The reason I think this could be a flashback is that he still has both eyes rather than his cybernetic implant.
Suicide Squad opens August 5th 2016.
