Jamie Dornan in First 'Fifty Shades Darker' Teaser; Film is More of a Thriller

Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey, doesn't arrive for two years but you'd think it was coming next month. Universal has faced all kinds of issues with it already, from battles with author E.L. James to contract disputes with stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. With James' husband now on board to pen the screenplay a director still needs to be found, but that didn't stop a first image from being released last week and a teaser trailer that arrived today.

"Are you ready for something darker?" Hopefully you're ready to watch Dornan put on a mask like he's trying out for a role in Eyes Wide Shut. That's really all there is to it, but for those who are excited for more dull erotic sexual exploits it should be more than enough to whet their appetite. One thing we know, thanks to Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley, is that the film will be “more of a thriller”than the first one. That should please not only fans but James, who battled with previous director Sam Taylor-Johnson over the movie's tone.

Fifty Shades Darker hits theaters on February 10th 2017. [THR]
