Chris Pratt goes Bootlegging in 'The Real McCoy'
Add another charming rogue role to Chris Pratt's resume. The Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World, and possible next Indiana Jones is attached to star in The Real McCoy, based on a hotly-contested pitch by Bill Dubuque (The Judge) that Universal just spent a small fortune to buy.
Pratt would apparently take the lead role of real-life bootlegger William "Bill" McCoy who supposedly is the inspiration for the phrase "the real McCoy', meaning the liquor hadn't been cut. There's no proof that's the case and the phrase is attributed, with far more evidence, to numerous other sources. McCoy considered himself an "honest lawbreaker" and was highly active during Prohibition even though he was a non-drinker.
No word on when this could shoot as Pratt already has a ton on his plate including Guardians of the Galaxy 2, The Magnificent Seven remake, the long-developing sci-fi film Passengers, and comic book adaptation Cowboy Ninja Viking. That should give producers plenty of time to find just the right director. [THR]
