Hot off the box office-busting, Oscar-nominated run of American Sniper, Clint Eastwood may be looking to tackle another tragic true story. Last year Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill decided to stay in business together after The Wolf of Wall Street by joining 20th Century Fox's Richard Jewell biopic. And now it looks like Eastwood has taken an interest, too.
According to Deadline, Eastwood may direct the film which is based on the Vanity Fair article, "American Nightmare". It centers on Richard Jewell, the security guard who was falsely accused of the 1996 Olympic bombing in Atlanta, and saw his professional and personal life ruined as a result. Hill would play Jewell while DiCaprio is the southern lawyer who defended him from national scrutiny.
Details are all being ironed out, including whether Fox and Warner Bros. will co-produce the film, but with Eastwood no longer tackling a remake of A Star is Born he should have an open schedule.
