Dane DeHaan and Mia Goth Join Gore Verbinski's Spa Horror 'A Cure for Wellness'
The last time we saw anything from director Gore Verbinski it was in the oversized, overstuffed, over-budgeted The Lone Ranger. Disney has basically shunned him as a director since then, so you'd think Verbinski would want to steer clear from anybody associated with that film, much less its screenwriter Justin Haythe. Instead, the two are reteaming on a horror movie with an intriguing plot and two notable stars.
Dane DeHaan and Nymphomaniac actress Mia Goth are set to star in A Cure for Wellness, a genre flick that takes place in a wellness spa. I'm getting visions of well-manicured figure nails being ripped out as we speak. The story, which Haythe wrote and Verbinski will obviously direct, centers on a young man who must rescue his boss from a sinister European wellness spa. Goth will play a longtime member of the spa who doesn't realize its manager has evil intentions for her.
Before he got lost making Pirates of the Caribbean flicks and spending insane amounts of studio cash, Verbinski used to be quite good with smaller films. It may be hard to remember but he's the same guy who directed The Ring, so he's familiar with this kind of material.
