Before Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners) sinks his teeth into the Blade Runner sequel (which we now know will star Ryan Gosling), he's going to hit Cannes with his latest film, the crime drama Sicario. The film stars Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, and Josh Brolin, and is set on the US-Mexico where an idealistic Arizona cop is joined by two grizzled task force officers in taking out a drug cartel boss.
Prior to the film's premiere, Lionsgate has now revealed the first official image from Sicario, and it looks like Del Toro's got somebody in his sights. The film also boasts cinematography by the great Roger Deakins (Unbroken), and co-stars Jon Bernthal. It opens wide on September 25th after a limited release a week earlier. Villeneuve will next shoot sci-fi drama Story of Your Life starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.
