First Trailer for Thriller 'The Harvest' with Michael Shannon and Samantha Morton
As hard as it may be to believe, but seventeen years have passed since the trashy Wild Things left its mark on screens, and it remains one of the purest examples of a "guilty pleasure" ever. But that was also the last time John McNaughton directed a feature film, and now he's returning with The Harvest, which looks like it has the makings of another camp classic.
Starring Samantha Morton, Michael Shannon, Charlie Tahan, Peter Fonda, and Natasha Calis, the film centers on a sickly boy who befriends the girl next door, only to have his mother go a little nuts in railing against the friendship. Shannon plays the boy's docile father who doesn't know how to stand up against his wife's tirades. It's a different kind of role for him, but the real winner looks to be Morton and we haven't seen her in anything like this in a very long time. Who knows? Maybe this will be a comeback film for McNaughton, too?
The Harvest hits theaters and VOD on April 10th.
