Gugu Mbatha-Raw Joins Disney's Live-Action 'Beauty and the Beast'
As far as breakout years go, 2014 was definitely one for Gugu Mbatha-Raw. She starred in two critically acclaimed films in Belle and Beyond the Lights, earning solid notices in both. While it's probably best to forget her dog-eared role in Jupiter Ascending, she's moving on to something bigger as part of Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast.
Mbatha-Raw will take on the role of Plumette, the talking feather duster in the classic story retold by director Bill Condon. Emma Watson plays Belle with Dan Steven as the Beast and Luke Evans as Gaston. Emma Thompson is voicing Mrs. Potts, Ian McKellen is Cogsworth, and Kevin Kline is Belle's father. The talking kitchen utensils will be brought to life using the power of extensive computer animation.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast opens March 17th 2017. [Variety]
