Kristen Stewart Joins Ang Lee's War Drama 'Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk'

Oscar-winning director Ang Lee (Life of Pi) has been putting together his next film, an adaptation of Ben Fountain's war critique Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, and while he's got a great cast already the biggest name only just came aboard. According to TheWrap, Kristen Stewart is taking time out of her busy schedule to join the film, which currently stars Garrett Hedlund, Steve Martin, and Joe Alwyn.

Stewart will be joined by Ben Platt (Ricki and the Flash) in taking on two key roles in the drama, which centers on 19-year-old Billy Lynn and his squad who are captured on news cameras surviving a major battle in the Iraq War. Returned home and treated as heroes by the government, they are sent on a victory tour that culminates in a big halftime show during a Texas football game. When it's over they are to be shipped off back to war. Stewart would play Billy Lynn's older sister, Kathryn, while Platt is Josh, a contact person for the Dallas Cowboys. Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) wrote the screenplay.

With roles in Woody Allen and Kelly Reichardt's next projects, it seems Stewart is continuing her run of working with today's top directors.
