Movies about missing children are disturbing enough, but through in the desolation of the Australian Outback and they reach new levels of horror. There's something about the quiet, dangerous, dusty terrain that makes any film set out there a gripping experience. Well, except for The Rover which was massively disappointing. Anyway, Nicole Kidman hits the Outback for her next film, Strangerland, and a new trailer for the thriller is here.
Debuting at Sundance and earning pretty strong reviews, Strangerland centers on a married couple (Kidman and Joseph Fiennes) newly-arrived in a remote Australian town, only to have their lives rocked by the sudden disappearance of their two children. With a powerful dust storm on the way the clock is ticking to find them as quickly as possible.
It looks like a strong turn from Kidman, and she could probably use one after that whole Grace of Monaco affair. Directed by Kim Farrant and co-starring Hugo Weaving, Strangerland opens in theaters and VOD on July 10th.
