Paul Giamatti Joins Sci-Fi Film 'Morgan'; Gemma Arterton and John Hurt Lead 'The History of Love'
Marvel villains Paul Giamatti (Rhino in The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Toby Jones (Arnim Zola in Captain America: The Winter Soldier) have joined the sci-fi thriller Morgan, directed by Ridley Scott's son, Luke. Kate Mara (Fantastic Four) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) were previously cast in the film which centers on a corporate risk-management consultant who is summoned to a remote research lab to determine whether or not to terminate an at-risk artificial being. Boyd Holbrook (Run All Night) is also in talks for a role in the film, which features a Black List screenplay by Seth W. Owen. Giamatti will play a psychologist with trouble relating to people while Jones is the scientist in charge of the facility. [THR]
Gemma Arterton and John Hurt are set to star in an adaptation of Nicole Krauss' novel, The History of Love, which had once had Alfonso Cuaron attached to direct. Instead it will be Radu Mihăileanu (Le Concert) at the helm of the film which centers on a long-lost book that reappears and connects the lives of strangers who are searching for the true identities of characters in the story. Hurt will likely play the central character, Leo Gursky, who wrote the book decades earlier for the woman he loved. [TheTrackingBoard]
