Peter Berg May Direct Channing Tatum's Evel Knievel Biopic

Channing Tatum's career is taking some strange turns of late. Who would have thought he'd ever be a part of Fox's X-Men franchise, much less as the Cajun mutant Gambit? His 22 Jump Street sequel could be a crossover with Men in Black of all things, and Tatum even has a Ghostbusters film on the way. What the heck? With all of that going on he's even found time to begin developing a biopic on legendary daredevil, Evel Knievel, and now he may have a director for it.

According to The Tracking Board, Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) is set to direct the film based on a script by Tatum's pal, Reid Carolin. Berg is currently gearing up to shoot Deepwater Horizon with Mark Wahlberg and Dylan O'Brien in the lead roles. He's also an exec-producer on Dwayne Johnson's HBO series, Ballers. Tatum will play Knievel, who was famous for the death-defying stunts he performed from the 1960s to the '80s, most notably his jumping of motorcycles across rows of parked vehicles. In 1975 he jumped across fourteen Greyhound buses at King's Island. He also holds the Guinness World Record for the most broken bones with 433.

So we'll see if this comes to pass. With Tatum and Berg's busy schedules it's unclear when Evel Knievel will make the jump into production.
