Should Paramount be concerned at the length of time it took for fans to "unlock" what is presumably the final trailer for Terminator Genisys? All they had to do was retweet a simple hashtag enough times to reveal the trailer, and let's just say it took awhile. The lack of genuine excitement for the franchise's return has been noticeable, but maybe the latest trailer can turn that around?
The latest trailer, referred to in the UK cut as the "payoff trailer", is big on action but also on story details and spoilers, so be careful. Arnold Schwarzenegger is back as the T-800, but this isn't the big metal lug we're used to. In fact, nothing is we expect it to be, which seems to be the driving force of this new trilogy. Jai Courtney is Kyle Reese who is again sent back in time to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), only to find that she's in good hands already. Even her son, John (Jason Clarke), the future savior of the world, seems changed. Something's going on and the mystery is an intriguing one; too bad nobody seems to be paying attention.
Also starring Matt Smith and J.K. Simmons, Terminator Genisys opens July 1st.
