Ryan Gosling will Star in the 'Blade Runner' Sequel
In case you didn't get enough classic sci-fi with the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, now comes a pretty serious update on a sequel to Ridley Scott's Blade Runner. While we know Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Enemy) will be directing with Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford returning as Rick Deckard, now we know he'll be joined by Ryan Gosling.
A press release from Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. just confirmed the news of Gosling's negotiations for the lead role, with Ford joining him. Details beyond that are being kept secret, but we know the story by co-writers Hampton Fancher and Michael Green will be set decades after the original. Scott is on board as an exec-producer.
Filming begins in the summer of 2016 which should give Gosling plenty of time to wrap up shooting on financial world drama, The Big Short, and possibly Damien Chazelle's musical La La Land opposite Emma Stone. He'll be seen next in The Nice Guys alongside Russell Crowe.
