Anne Hathaway Joined in 'The Lifeboat' by Joe Wright
It has been a couple of years since we heard anything about The Lifeboat, a film Anne Hathaway attached herself to not long after her Oscar win for Les Miserables. But it appears the project is finally beginning to take shape with Joe Wright coming aboard to direct.
Wright will direct Hathaway in the adaptation of Charlotte Rogan's novel, penned by Jarhead and Apollo 13 writer William Broyles Jr. The story centers on 22-year-old Grace Winter, a widow standing trial for murder in 1914. Grace and her husband had been aboard the ocean liner Empress when an explosion forced it to sink. Secured in a lifeboat that quickly reaches maximum capacity, the survivors begin discussing who needs to be kicked off to save the most lives.
Wrights' next film is the fantasy adventure, Pan, due out this summer. It's unclear whether he'll be getting into The Lifeboat immediately after, or if he'll squeeze in something else first. [Deadline]
