First Look at Elle Fanning in Nicolas Winding Refn's 'The Neon Demon'

Danish auteur Nicolas Winding Refn doesn't have a film at Cannes this year, but that's not stopping him from getting ready for next year's festival. He's wrapping up filming on his Hollywood horror, The Neon Demon, and the first image of star Elle Fanning has arrived, along with a fairly creepy one featuring Refn himself.

Refn has previously said the film is inspired by Countess Bathory, a Hungarian noble who also happened to be the world's most prolific female serial killer. How that fits into the story of an aspiring model (Fanning) who becomes prey to a bunch of beauty-obsessed women is anybody's guess, but Refn will find a way to make it interesting and stylish as Hell. The film also stars Jena Malone, Christina Hendricks, Desmond Harrington, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Bella Heathcote, and Keanu Reeves.

The Neon Demon is expected to be completed by early 2016. I'd kill for a Sundance bow on this one, but it will likely end up at next year's Cannes. [ScreenDaily]
