*UPDATE* Matt Damon Walks on Mars in First Look at Ridley Scott's 'The Martian'
*UPDATE* Empire has revealed a few more images which you can check out below.
Matt Damon's next role in Ridley Scott's The Martian bears striking resemblance to the stranded astronaut he played in Interstellar just a few months ago. Both films also star Jessica Chastain, so it appears neither has any issue with thought-provoking sci-fi, even though this latest film is mostly going to be a one man show.
The first image of Damon all suited up as NASA engineer Mark Watney in The Martian has arrived, and you might want to get used to seeing him look like this. The film centers on Watney, who was left behind on Mars when a severe storm struck and forced his crewmates to evacuate, thinking him dead. With few supplies and no way to let anyone know he's alive, Watney must use his intellect and resourcefulness to stay alive until help shows up. The film co-stars Kristen Wiig, Aksel Hennie, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Mara, Jeff Daniels, Donald Glover, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Mackenzie Davis, and Naomi Scott, but don't expect to see a lot of them.
Drew Goddard has adapted the book by Andy Weir, which I'm currently in the middle of reading. It's highly technical, which may not translate so well to the screen, but that's not to say the story is boring. Watney's internal monologue is pretty funny, and the way he gets himself out of one jam after another is always interesting. The Martian hits theaters on November 25th.
