If Marvel is going to cast Spider-Man in time for him to appear in Captain America: Civil War, they need to get on the ball. Filming on the star-spangled Avenger's sequel begins soon, and then of course there's Spider-Man's solo movie coming in 2017. Just a couple of days ago Asa Butterfield was reportedly the frontrunner to play Peter Parker, but now Devin Faraci at Badass Digest says he's not alone.
Tom Holland, who was also on the original shortlist, is also a finalist for Marvel's Spider-Man. Holland is best known for his role in the disaster drama The Impossible, and he fits what Marvel is looking for. First of all, he'll never be mistaken for the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man, and second he's only 18 years old which fits Marvel's desire for a high school-aged star.
Captain America: Civil War shoots soon for release on May 6th 2016.
