Will Poulter is Pennywise the Clown in Cary Fukunaga's 'It' Remake

No doubt those who suffer from coulrophobia already have nightmares about Stephen King's classic novel, It, thanks to the evil clown Pennywise. True Detective director Cary Fukunaga is looking to dredge up those fears once again with a two-part adaptation for the big screen, and now he's found the actor who will embody the face of pure evil, The Maze Runner's Will Poulter.

Poulter is the first actor cast in Fukunaga's adaptation, which is currently in the pre-production stage. The We're the Millers star blew Fukunaga away with his audition, winning the job over older actors like Ben Mendelsohn and Mark Rylance. While Poulter is known mostly for comedic roles, The Maze Runner showed he can be tough and more than a little menacing, but it will be interesting to see how he fits into playing the demonic Pennywise.

Fukunaga's plan is to shoot two separate movies, one focusing on the children as kids when they were first terrorized, and then the second film with them as adults.  Filming is set to begin this summer. [Variety]
