'American Sniper' Writer Jason Hall to Direct Military Drama 'Thank You For Your Service'

One of the many projects Steven Spielberg has considered adding to his crowded slate is Thank You for your Service, the military drama based on David Finkel's book. Spielberg had been loosely attached, and there was the chance of a reunion with Lincoln star Daniel-Day Lewis. But the real driving force behind the project was red-hot American Sniper writer, Jason Hall, and now he's taking over the project in full.

Hall is set to make his directorial debut on the film which centers on the plight of three PTSD afflicted Iraq War soldiers as they try to integrate back civilian life. It's a subject Hall approached in American Sniper, earning an Oscar nomination for his screenplay.

Just how Spielberg still fits into this, or if he does at all, is unclear, just as there's no indication when Dreamworks plans to get this project rolling. Count on it being sooner rather than later. [TheWrap]
