While his father Arnold gears up for Terminator Genisys, Patrick Schwarzenegger will be busy in YA territory, but at least it means he'll get to romance Bella Thorne. Schwarzenegger and Thorne are set to star in teen romance, Midnight Sun, but unlike other YA stories this one is based on the 2006 Japanese film, Song to the Sun, which is actually quite good.
Scott Speer (Step Up: Revolution) will direct from a script by Eric Kirsten that centers on 17-year-old Katie (Thorne), a sheltered young woman confined to her home due to a rare skin disease that makes even a small amount of sunlight deadly. So she lives her life to the fullest in the evenings, and that is when she meets Charlie (Schwarzenegger), and they embark on a nocturnal summer romance.
Filming kicks off this September. Thorne was most recently seen as a mean girl in The Duff, while Schwarzenegger has the horror-comedy Scouts vs. Zombies coming up.
