Oscar-Winning Composer James Horner Dies in Plane Crash
Sad news today as Oscar winning composer James Horner has died last night at the age of 61 in a plane crash near Santa Barbara. Horner's prolific career began in 1978 with The Watcher, and he's lent his musical talents to more than 150 films since then, including multiple Best Picture winners. He won two Academy Awards for composing James Cameron's Titanic soundtrack, while he also earned nominations for Braveheart, An American Tail, House of Sand and Fog, Apollo 13, Field of Dreams, A Beautiful Mind, and Cameron's Avatar. Many of those films were also nominated for Best Picture.
Horner's final works will be in the boxing drama Southpaw and the Chilean miner drama, The 33. He was also working with Cameron on the music for the Avatar sequels.
