Guillermo Del Toro will No Longer Direct 'Justice League Dark'
One of the most promising projects brewing at Warner Bros. has been Justice League Dark aka Dark Universe, a film that would bring together a team of DC's supernatural and mystic heroes like Constantine, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, and more. Promising idea, but what made it special was the enthusiastic presence of Guillermo Del Toro. There was just one big problem: it never seemed to be going anywhere, and when DC unveiled their full slate of upcoming projects it was nowhere to be found.
So today came the relatively dull news that most of Warner Bros.' Vertigo Comics movies like Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Sandman would be shifting over to their New Line Cinema imprint. No biggie, but THR adds that Del Toro is no longer involved with Justice League Dark, which is remaining under the WB banner along with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the other heavy-hitting projects. With Del Toro releasing Crimson Peak this fall and prepping Pacific Rim 2, he likely couldn't fit anything else into his busy schedule.
This doesn't mean the project is dead. That they held on to it at WB means there are plans for it somewhere down the line, but when Justice League Dark eventually gets moving it will be with someone other than Del Toro.
