Josh Brolin, Olivia Munn, and Maggie Gyllenhaal Join Luke Evans in 'Three Seconds'
Whatever TV director Otto Brathurst (Peaky Blinders) is doing to attract attention around Hollywood he needs to keep it up. A few months ago we learned of his feature debut, Three Seconds, and the casting of Luke Evans and David Oyelowo to lead it. Based on a book adapted by Matt Cook (Triple Nine) and Rowan Joffe (The American), this one was already overflowing with talent, and yet there's still room for three more big names.
According to The Wrap, Josh Brolin, Olivia Munn, and Maggie Gyllenhaal have joined the cast of the drug world thriller about an FBI undercover agent who is abandoned mid-mission and must go to extraordinary lengths to survive. Here's the book synopsis to flesh things out:
Piet Hoffman, a top-secret operative for the Swedish police, faces his most dangerous assignment yet: after years spent infiltrating the Polish mafia, he's become a key player in their attempt to take over amphetamine distribution inside Sweden's prisons. To stop them from succeeding, he will have to go undercover, posing as a prisoner inside the country's most notorious jail.
But when a botched drug deal involving Hoffman results in the death of another cop, the murder investigation is assigned to the brilliant but haunted Detective Inspector Ewert Grens--a man who never gives up until he's cracked the case. Grens's determination to find the killer not only threatens to expose Hoffman's true identity, it may reveal even bigger crimes at the heart of the Swedish justice system. And there are players who will do anything to stop Grens from discovering the truth.
Evans has the lead role while Munn will play his worried wife. Gyllenhaal is an FBI agent with ties to Evans' character, while Brolin is her supervisor. No word on when this will roll but it's got enough stars that it may not be flying under the radar for long.
