It has already been a banner year for Maika Monroe, who had her break out role in the hit horror flick, It Follows. She's currently in New Mexico shooting Independence Day Resurgence, which promises to be a blockbuster smash next year. But she' still finding time to mix in a few small projects from promising filmmakers.
Monroe, Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar), and Alex Roe (The 5th Wave) are set to star in Hot Summer Nights, an indie coming-of-age drama from debut writer/director Elijah Bynum. His Black List-approved screenplay centers on "a teenager whose life spirals out of control when he befriends the town rebel, falls in love, and gets entangled in a drug ring all during one hot, stormy summer."
No word on when this will shoot but with Monroe on fire right now they may want to strike while the iron is hot. [Deadline]
