Queen Latifah Finds 'Miracles from Heaven'; Ariana Labed Joins 'Assassin's Creed'
Queen Latifah has joined Jennifer Garner in the faith-based drama, Miracles from Heaven, making this already one of the more interesting religious films in a while. Based on the popular Christy Beam memoir and directed by underrated filmmaker Patricia Riggen (Under the Same Moon), the story centers on a mother whose young daughter miraculously recovers from an incurable disease after surviving a terrible accident. Latifah will play an angelic Boston waitress (never thought those words would go together) who befriends the family in their time of need. Theaters will receive their Miracles from Heaven on March 18th 2016. [THR]
With Alicia Vikander having backed out of a role in video game adaptation Assassin's Creed, her role has now been taken by Ariane Labed, who had a small role in Before Midnight. She joins Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in the potential blockbuster centering on a man who is captured by a secret organization tied to the Knights Templar and sent back in time into the body of his assassin ancestors to steal powerful artifacts. Labed can be seen later this year opposite Colin Farrell in The Lobster. Assassin's Creed opens December 21st 2016.
