Jason Schwartzman Betters Himself in the '7 Chinese Brothers' Trailer

Jason Schwartzman as an unlikable character you can't help but root for? That seems to be his specialty, going all the way back to Rushmore. And now he's back at it again in the oddly-titled 7 Chinese Brothers, a small indie about a giant a-hole trying to better himself.

Directed by Bob Bybington and co-starring Tunde Adebimpe, Stephen Root, Olympia Dukakis, Alex Karpovsky, and Schwartzman's real-life dog, the story centers on Larry, a misanthropic slacker who can't hold a job but wanders through life looking for purpose. Judging by this trailer he may find it working at a Jiffy Lube, which is where everybody goes to find inspiration, naturally. Larry is definitely the kind of character Schwartzman can make you fall in love with, despite all of his many issues.

7 Chinese Brothers opens August 28th.
