'X-Men: Apocalypse' Reveals Images of Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, and More

Back in the days of Chris Claremont's legendary X-Men run, the comic was often referred to as a "mutant soap opera". And for very good reason because supervillains were the least of the team's worries. Their were love triangles, evil siblings, jealousy, and superhuman amounts of angst that threatened to tear Charles Xavier's team apart, and it's that melodramatic side that Bryan Singer has been so good at capturing in his big screen features. That seems to be the case for X-Men: Apocalypse, as well, especially with the introduction of young, hormonal, teenage versions Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and more.

Following on yesterday's first look images, EW has now released photos of the new cast, with some small but revealing characters.  Tye Sheridan is future team leader, Scott Summers aka Cyclops, who is described as a bad boy who finds love with Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), one of Charles Xavier's prized students who is fearful of her power. Lana Condor is Jubilee, a" fashionable student at Charles' school, she's able to unleash colorful energy bursts". Nightcrawler is played now by Kodi Smit-McPhee, who is "rescued by Raven and becomes a source of comic relief." A far cry from the somber version played by Alan Cumming in X-2. And perhaps most interesting is Alexandra Shipp as Ororo Munroe aka Storm, who isn't in control of her weather powers when she is discovered by Apocalypse.

There will be at least three love stories going on at once in the film, so expect to see some sparks fly. X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27th 2016.
