Jesse Eisenberg Clarifies Genocide Comments; New Clip from 'American Ultra' with Kristen Stewart

Perhaps it's not a good idea to compare the Comic-Con experience to "genocide" when you've got two geek-centric movies in a row coming up? A few days ago Jesse Eisenberg riled up the Internet with his negative response to attending last week's event for Batman v Superman, but another Eisenberg film that had a presence there was the action-comedy, American Ultra. So he probably had two sets of studio execs blowing up his phone demanding he do some damage control, and so he has. He recently told the Associated Press...

“I of course was using hyperbole to describe the sensory overload I experienced. I sometimes do employ that. I’m a normal person who has normal sensory experiences, so Comic-Con was very overwhelming for me. That said, it was really an honor to be on that end of such jubilation.”

Riiiight, because "genocide" and "jubilation" go hand-in-hand. Whatever. Eisenberg will probably be defending his words throughout the American Ultra press tour, which is now kicking off in earnest with the release of the first clip. The stoner flick reteams Eisenberg with Adventureland co-star Kristen Stewart, and it centers on a slacker couple on the run from government authorities when it's revealed he is really a sleeper agent. Paranoia and weed already go together like peanut butter and jelly (or like weed and Doritos), but try throwing in shadowy government types into the mix.  You can also check out the comic book-style posters released for Comic-Con here.

Directed by Nima Nourizadeh, American Ultra opens August 21st.
