Could Constantine be Headed to CW's 'Arrow'?

Not every DC Comics TV series is a success. Constantine got off to a shaky start on NBC and never really got going, ultimately getting cancelled after one lackluster season. Many of the supernatural character's fans were split on star Matt Ryan right from the beginning, but someone who liked him was Arrow star Stephen Amell. For awhile it seemed like the CW might save Constantine, and Amell volunteered to have Oliver Queen guest star if that were to happen. But now it seems as if the chain-smoking Constantine could be making an appearance on the Arrow's turf, instead.

IGN spoke with Amell and producer Wendy Mericle about the possibility of Matt Ryan's Constantine turning up on Arrow, and it sounds like it could happen. Mericle said...

"Yeah, we really want to do it. It's something we've been talking to DC about and it's just a question of some political things, but also the actor's schedule. We're trying to work it out, but we don't know 100 percent if it's going to happen..... "[We're] really optimistic and we would love to have him."

Amell says he has his "fingers crossed" the deal can come together. Adding a character like Constantine would add a paranormal element to the show that has largely been absent, but it's somewhat surprising they'd want to keep Ryan in the role given his version of Constantine wasn't fully embraced.

Arrow returns to the CW on Oct. 7th.
