Cobie Smulders May Fight Alongside Tom Cruise in 'Jack Reacher 2'

In Tom Cruise's last two action flicks, Edge of Tomorrow and Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation, it can be argued he was totally upstaged by his female co-stars Emily Blunt and Rebecca Ferguson. Cruise may be setting up for something similar to occur with Jack Reacher 2, as The Avengers' Cobie Smulders is in talks to join him in the vigilante franchise.

At first it seemed Jack Reacher's $218M box office wouldn't be enough to warrant a sequel, but Cruise holds wanted it to happen and who is Paramount Pictures to deny their biggest star? Cruise's pal Christopher McQuarrie directed the last one, but it will be his The Last Samurai director Ed Zwick taking over the sequel, which will be based on Lee Child's book, Never Go Back. While no offer has been formally extended to Smulders yet, she's expected to take on the role of Danika.
