Marc Webb Adds Chris Evans to 'Gifted', Jeff Bridges and Rosamund Pike to 'The Only Living Boy in New York'

While Gareth Edwards and Colin Trevorrow are the model for indie filmmakers making the jump to blockbusters, it doesn't work out for everybody. Just ask Josh Trank, he'll tell ya. Another who probably has some thoughts on it is Marc Webb, who went from the indie rom-com (500) Days of Summer straight into Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man, only to fall flat with the sequel. Late last year we saw Webb begin the process of returning to his roots by lining up two smaller films, Gifted and The Only Living Boy in New York, and now those casts are coming together.

First up, Webb has snagged Chris Evans to star in Gifted, a Tom Flynn-scripted drama about a man fighting his mother for custody of his dead sister's brilliant daughter. The film is set up at Fox Searchlight with plans for shooting to begin this fall, making it Webb's next project.

Next is The Only Living Boy in New York which has long had Miles Teller eyeing the lead role. He's now joined by Rosamund Pike and Jeff Bridges, with the Allan Loeb screenplay centering on a recent college grad who learns his father is having an affair. When he tries to stop it, he ends up falling for the mistress himself. The plan is for Webb to shoot it some time in 2016. [Deadline]
