Orlando Bloom will Return for 'Pirates off the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales'

When Orlando Bloom was first rumored to be returning for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales after being gone for one film, it didn't seem plausible. His character Will Turner seemed to get his "happy ending" at the end of 'At World's End', and the franchise moved on without him. But the rumors persisted, and now at Disney's D23 Expo it has been confirmed that Orlando Bloom is back.

Bloom joins the obviously-returning Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Javier Bardem as the villain Captain Salazar, plus Geoffrey Rush, Kevin R. McNally, Stephen Graham, Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, David Wenham, and Golshifteh Farahani. How does Will Turner fit into the story without his lover Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) by his side? Here's the synopsis:

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him.  Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is due July 7, 2017
