Patrick Stewart Says He'll be in 'The Wolverine 3'; Talks 'Old Man Logan' Storyline

With the X-Men universe being rebooted in a way after X-Men: Days of Future Past, opportunities are running out to see most of the original cast. Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier played a key role in the prior film, and there have been rumors he would be coming back for The Wolverine 3, which will also be Hugh Jackman's last time as Logan. Given how closely Xavier and Logan are tied, it would make sense to wrap up their story together, and it seems that is exactly what will happen.

Stewart revealed to Collider that Xavier does indeed play a part in The Wolverine sequel, and it will be more than just a cameo...

“I think what you say is true. There is a project in development. I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me.”

Hugh Jackman has been teasing an "Old Man Logan" storyline for the film, based on Mark Millar's classic miniseries set in a United States conquered by the Red Skull and other supervillains. Logan, whose weakened healing factor has caused him to age considerably, has gone off to live a quiet life as a pacifist. Stewart addressed those rumors and appears to confirm them to be true...

“And the idea of an old Wolverine – I’m really looking forward to Hugh Jackman getting old. You know, damn him. He looks so great! So I’m hoping to see him covered in prosthetics, you know? And then he’ll make me look better if that’s the case.”

Of course, he could just be going off the things we've all heard, so don't take this as confirmation the next film will definitely follow Old Man Logan.

The Wolverine 3 opens March 3rd 2017.
