Trailer for Joachim Trier's Drama 'Louder than Bombs' with Jesse Eisenberg and Isabelle Huppert

American audiences may not be familiar with Norwegian director Joachim Trier, but those who follow his work have reason to be excited about his next film, Louder than Bombs. The Reprise and Oslo August 31st director is set to make his English-language debut, and he's rounded up a cast that includes Isabelle Huppert, Gabriel Byrne, Amy Ryan, and Jesse Eisenberg.

The first teaser for Louder than Bombs doesn't reveal much other than the director's signature style. Co-written by Trier and Eskil Vogt, the film centers on a family struggling to come to grips with the death of their matriarch, a war photographer. Here's the official synopsis:

An upcoming exhibition celebrating photographer Isabelle Reed three years after her untimely death, brings her eldest son Jonah back to the family house – forcing him to spend more time with his father Gene and withdrawn younger brother Conrad than he has in years. With the three of them under the same roof, Gene tries desperately to connect with his two sons, but they struggle to reconcile their feelings about the woman they remember so differently.

Louder than Bombs has yet to gain a U.S. date but opens in Norway this October.
