Never fear; The Hunger Games may be coming to an end but there's a new contender for your YA dollars right around the corner. The 5th Wave is based on Rick Yancey's best-selling book, and yes it's set in a post-apocalyptic future. The difference is that it wasn't human who destroyed the planet this time, but waves of extraterrestrials that are coming back to finish the job.
Starring Chloe Moretz, Nick Robinson, Liev Schreiber, Maria Bello, Ron Livingston, Alex Roe, and Maika Monroe, the story centers on Cassie, who must find and rescue her younger brother before the aliens launch their fifth and final attack. The new U.S. trailer arrives not long after the first, and looks like a combination of The Hunger Games and The Host, which could be interesting.
Directed by J Blakeson, The 5th Wave opens January 29th 2016.
