Darren Aronofsky Could Direct Channing Tatum's Evel Knievel Biopic

It's been a while since we've heard anything about Channing Tatum's Evel Knievel biopic. He's been developing the film on the legendary daredevil for a few years, with himself set to star, and for a time it looked like Peter Berg would direct it. But that never happened, and now Tatum may have found an intriguing new option in Darren Aronofsky.

Aronofsky has been pretty quiet ever since Noah, which despite tepid reviews and a ton of controversy went on to gross over $400M. The Tracking Board was the first to break the news of Aronofsky's early discussions for the Evel Knievel gig, with Scott Silver (The Fighter) penning the most recent screenplay. Based on Stuart Barker's book, Life of Evel, the story centers on the stunt performer famous for his dangerous motorcycle jumps and record-breaking number of broken bones.

Aronofsky seems like a solid fit for, and after venturing into the blockbuster realm with Noah this could be a step back into a more personal character study, similar to what he did on The Wrestler.
