Emily Blunt to Lead Disney's 'Mary Poppins' Sequel?
With impressive roles in The Adjustment Bureau, Looper, Edge of Tomorrow, and Sicario, we've come to accept Emily Blunt as one of today's top action stars. Heck, those of us who vote in the Critics' Choice Awards even gave her some gold for it. But if Disney's musical fairy tale Into the Woods showed us anything it's that she's not such a bad singer, either, which would make her a solid choice to lead their upcoming Mary Poppins sequel.
That's exactly what may happen according to Den of Geek's latest rumor. Not that she's been contacted, but Disney apparently see Blunt as the frontrunner if it's a role she's interested in. She would be reuniting with Into the Woods director, Rob Marshall, in a story that takes place twenty years after the original and draws from all of author P.L. Travers' novels.
After the gritty, blood-soaked Sicario opens this weekend Blunt could probably use something a bit lighter. If not her, though, who would you rather see as Mary Poppins?
