Here's a good reason to be thankful of Lionsgate today. No longer will we be forced to type out The Divergent Series: Allegiant Part 1 and 2 to describe the final chapters of the YA franchise. Today they've revealed to MTV that the titles have been changed, and the penultimate film is now titled Allegiant while the final movie is Ascendant. No more "parts" to worry about!
With the announcement come a pair of simple teaser posters that feature new taglines: “Break the boundaries of your world" and "The end is never what you expect."
The changes aren't merely window dressing, either, as author Veronica Roth promises there will be some differences from the books to the screen. She added on Tumblr...
“What does this mean? Well, basically, it means there are going to be some changes, but it’s really too early to know exactly what those changes will be or the extent of them. I know changes always make fans of the books — and the author! — nervous, but hopefully the characters we know (and love. Or sometimes love to hate?) will still be intact, which is really the important thing. I am eager to see how these movies turn out, along with you guys.”
Next up is Allegiant which opens March 18th 2016. Ascendant will hit theaters on March 24th, 2017.
